Changing Lanes

Change is unavoidable, and for many people, it is deeply unsettling. We live in a world that is accelerating at a pace unlike anything previous generations experienced, with shifting values, rapidly evolving technology, and cultural norms that seem to redefine themselves overnight. One helpful concept describes what people need during times of rapid change as islands of stability, fixed points they can anchor to no matter how turbulent everything else becomes. The good news is that the Bible provides exactly that, and those anchors are more reliable than anything the world can offer.

There are three things that never change, no matter what is happening around you. First, God's love never changes. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and His love for you is not based on your performance or your failures but on His own unchanging character. Second, God's Word never changes. While opinions, politics, psychology, and culture will all shift over time, the Word of God stands forever and provides the only truly stable foundation for your life, your home, and your relationships. Third, God's purpose for your life never changes. Long before you were born, He planned for you with intention and care, and because He has eternal perspective and unlimited resources, He never has to revise those plans.

Even if you have made decisions you regret or feel like you have drifted far from where God wants you, there is hope. Romans 8:28 reminds us that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. That means even your failures and regrets can be woven into His plan when you surrender them to Him. Making Jesus Lord is not a one-time prayer but a daily posture of stepping out of the driver's seat and trusting Him to lead. Whatever fear or uncertainty you are facing, the God who never changes has the power to bring peace, direction, and purpose to every area of your life.
